Aye, a hearty thank you to all the developers of this fine game. I think the fact that so many of us have been playing for so long now is ample proof that the game was well designed and complex enough to have virtually infinite replay value. In fact, I made the comments about the weapons because while leveling many different toons I had run into so many of the items mentioned above. And it was my familiarity with the game that prompted me to wonder how to make those items more popular. I didn't seriously expect any of the suggestions made above would ever be implemented this late in the NS timeline. The majority of the time spent by the Devs should be on NS5 anyways. In any case, it prompted a good discussion and many interesting thoughts arose from the original suggestion. Only a game as sophisticated as this could have so many nuances seen by different people. If the game sucked, I don't think any one of us would have bothered to waste brain functions over it like we do. Thanx again to all of you who have devoted so much time in the creation of NS and I'm looking forward to its future incarnations.

Indeed, kudos to the Devs and DMs for a groovy mod. Thanks for all your hard work. It was fun having the discussion, and nice to be able to express my opinion, but to be honest I don't actually care if the mod is changed in any way, I still love it just the way it is. 8)

I like. Let me suggest a refinement of that idea:

Use a Lesser/(normal)/Greater progression.

Have the first goop get you, say, a "Lesser Blue Triton Rapier". The second goop would result in you being offered to upgrade ("I see that you have a Lesser Blue Triton Rapier. Would you like me to upgrade it?") it to a "Blue Triton Rapier" or the acquisition of another Lesser item.

The third goop would result in the offer to upgrade the "Blue Triton Rapier" to a "Greater Blue Triton Rapier".

For extra annoyance, possessing goop could disable using the EC stick; for even more annoyance, have only one Lesser->normal->Greater progression (that is, you can't have a lesser and a normal, or two lessers -- you have to get the item to Greater status before you can pick up another lesser triton). And if that's still not enough... have three different colors of goop, one for each step.
