I must confess I also kinda like the idea of Tritons being higher level restricted. They are, aside from bulletproof gaunts, the best weapons in the game... Once you've been to EC once and gotten your pass it is absurdly easy to get extra Triton weapons to be honest.

well DV to get into DwP you have to be 38th and the goop is non transferable already

I think its ridiculous to push the triton weapon level restrictions higher. Yes I understand there are many weapons people could be using, but I don't think people would necessarily be happy with them. A lot of people like the triton weapon - the fact that they are essentially the same (lets say, handaxe triton vs rapier triton) is a huge boon.

I think tritons should stay at level 28 but goop, pass and starfall gear should be dropped to 23. After all, what's the point of an epic character if I cant use epic weapons?

I think an interesting compromise would be to do the upgradeable triton at lvl 38. Keep one version of the triton attainable as is and maybe not as powerful as the second version where you need the goop in DWP.

I have to agree with Deja on this one. Wasn't going to say anything, but am I the only one who thinks it would be insane to move goop to dwp? I have a hard enough time as it is trying to get people to take me there for armor let alone armor AND goop. Most of my toons do not have the ns armor because of that reason. I don't want to have to go in there just to get a good enough weapon to be able to hit stuff. I like it the way it is. It's worked this way for how long now? AS long as I have been on ns. So why change it now? I'm sure the dms would much rather be trying to work towards the new server rather than changing something like this. Can't we just...get triton weapons on our own and if you guys want to find something to do with the other weapons in ec, then give em out to your fellow players if they are in need of a weapon but cannot get to ec? Maybe I'm just nuts but I think things are fine just the way they are.

I dont think we should make "epic weapons" level 23 that is wet behind the ears epic. i think that if we do anything is to make the triton 38 make you play and actually learn the mod there are so many areas the have a layer of dust of them cause i think i am the only on that goes there lol! there are so MANY weapons out there like Mistress-X said. Are they as good as a triton heck no, but i think you wil have fun going to the dwarves and other areas that are fun. i am betting not to many if any of you know how to get to the dwarves thru the mines. and jacy all you gotta do is ask about going to DwP and i am guessing if we put 1/2 the goop there that there would be alot of runs to DwP dont you think? heck 99% of my toons dont have NS armor. by no means do you need to go into PANIC mode this is just a discussion.

LOL....hey Phant...the mines trip is the long way by a couple of screens if you start in NS, but I agree, its been some time since I have used that key myself .....the idea of spliting goop into two items has its merits.....just imagine it taking longer than 12 hours to reach level 40....aaahhhh the good old days

Just another perspective:

If the Triton is the "Best" weapon in the game, Why not make it a quest? I always thought that when the Triton came out, was a not quest but an oppertunity to bring classes to play together(party with a healer, a couple tanks and mage ect..)..now it seems as once you have a Triton(and the understanding on how to build an uber toon)that you can solo to the goop and essentually you really dont need the healer,tanks or mage.

...well I guess MY point is that I think it would be cool that if there were a map created that req'd a party of at least four and that each be of differant classes....kinda forces play into more of an RPG.

...maybe alot of scripting... I don't know...but map should not let party in if there is more than one of the same class in party, plus it not just all bout the hard it is to kill the "BOSS" but depends on if everyone know there role.

...and maybe have T v1, T v2, lower lvls and higher lvls.

...that way if you are a lower lvl you have the opportunity to have the best weapon for your lvl, also that weapon would be the pre req to the T v2.

Move the goop to the North Pole.
Then tritons would really become rare. And a party would be necessary to get it, after they convinced a DM that they were worthy of attempting to attain the ultimate weapon.

Actually, making tritons a lvl 38 weapon would work well. As Phantasm said, there are many areas that never seem to be used. In fact on East there is one epic area that I have yet to see anyone in except for me.

Maybe even make goop available in a random area that could change with each reset.

problem is we do not want a V1 and V2 defeats the purpose there are SO many weapons ppl do not use cause at 28th level they run to ec and get triton! how many ppl know how great the saber chest stuff or even where it is found???

Two versions of the triton wouldn't defeat the purpose. Just make the first version a little bit less damaging or reduce the to hit bonus to +7 instead of +8. Then make the second version as good as or better than it is now.

Another thought is to make the Triton a multistage quest. Each part of the quest requires goop from a different part of NS. Say goop from the midnight regions gives you negative energy damage and goop from the ice queen area gives you ice damage, etc. Every time you bring the goop to the smith in EC, he will upgrade your weapon and make it better in some way.

As far as all those weapons you mentioned, I'm pretty familiar with most of those places you named. Many places, such as the Dwarven Citadel are actually a lot harder than some EC regions. Forcing people to get items there before they can even get a triton or even NS gear is pretty rough. Also, if you really want people to go to all of these places you claim noone goes to, the best way is to give them a reason to go there. The main reason many of those places arn't visited is simply because nothing worthwhile drops there, or it is so out of the way that its not worth the time to get to that spot. Which would support my idea above. Split up the Triton into multi-stage versions and put them in those places you want people to start visiting. Give them the starter triton from the goop on the way to EC to have that initial triton and let them quest for the upgrades.

Well, I missed the part about goop being put in DWP. And I was under the impression DWP was still 40-only.
