help on wisdom ring quest. *lame spoiler request*
ok so I've heard legends of the Wisdom ring, and I have a build that is sorely in need of something like that. A friendly person let me know to start the quest in evenshire. Fair enough, all I needed was a starting point.
I talked to the hermit, did his quest, and all he says is "now go find the other hermits." ??? I am at a loss here for clues on where to even begin the next piece of this. I don't appear to have received any item or any other indication that i completed a piece of something longer.
Can anyone pm me the details on how to complete this quest? since I havent been able to find any in-game direction on this I'm not really interested in a voyage of discovery, a spoiler would be much appreciated.

i did speak to the guy in the crypt (that's how I first learned about it, though it did not connect it with any specific item until somebody mentioned the wis/str rings on here).
all he says also is "find hermits," though I did get the Token of Wisdom from him. Someone clued me where to find the first hermit in evenshire, and there the trail ended.
I'm not sure if I missed something else that would direct me on this quest short of asking someone who has already done it.

This is an OLD longstanding quest from NS3...the requirements for the quest have been passed on from player to player by word of mouth for as long as I can remember. Thus, as a dev, I can't very well give you that information in this quest!
However, a few general points about it. The quest starts with the Speaker of the Dead. There are two paths, either a Strength path or a Wisdom path. There are seven Dead Hermits scattered throughout Neversummer (remember, they've been around since vanilla NS 3, that should narrow down the areas that they are in a bit). Each Hermit will give you a token if you bring them some items they request from you. Once you've talked to all the hermits and have the tokens, you'll be sent down into the Halls of the Dead to talk to one of the NPCs down there, and you will receive the ring you requested. Its a pretty nice ring now, I buffed them up with the renovations done last fall.
I can't be terribly specific about what items they request or where the speakers are in this post. That would just give it all away! However, feel free to find an NS veteran player, if you ask them politely I'm sure they'd give you a hand. If you find me online, I can give you that hand up if you want.

Here's a general warning to all who attempt this quest:
It will take you several hours, even if you know exactly what you are doing.
I'm not saying you shouldn't attempt it (I've done the Wisdom quest twice...the last MW wipe was particularly painful to me...
), just be prepared to spend some time on it.
One thing that Fang didn't mention is that you have to talk to the Hermits in order, otherwise the quest won't progress...
I'm not sure that I've seen the "new" rings (I think I have since the last one I got was just before the wipe), but for the effort it takes to get one, I'd like to see them be better than the NS rings...a lot better...might encourage more players to undertake the quest--as it stands now, they are really only good for starter rings imho.

I don't think the NS ring area is all that hard, especially with the right toon.
The Str and Wis quests are just difficult in a different way. But if you wanted to make it harder, you could make people kill the HoD guy to get the ring after doing the quest or transport them to somewhere else to kill something really hard before they are given the ring.
Or the devs could be really evil and move the Hermits to places like Starfall, DWP, Twilight, etc...but I for one won't be volunteering to figure out the order...

thanks everyone, I now have enough information to proceed with the quest. (almost done with it).
I must say that the quest did make me find new areas I had never been to before (so easy to get stuck in a successful level route rut). However this benefit is probably lost on a lot of people since there's zero in-game direction. it would be a pretty good quest if each hermit told you what zone the next hermit was in, and what he wanted (to cut down on the massive runaround time).
for what its worth i find this quest to be MUCH harder than NS ring runs. NS ring just needs simple combat and with a small team you can have one in perhaps 10 minutes. this quest so far has not so much tested the toon as much as the player: massively time consuming (equivalent to camping a very rare drop actually), knowledge of the map and knowledge of where certain otherwise mundane items drop.
I will probably get any number of NS rings in days to come, but I'll be damned if i do this quest again
there's lots of ways to make things hard; forced camping and super hard bosses are only 2 ways.
unless of course it's a Ring of Immunity to Arrows with "delete enemy archer toon from the vault" once per day

if i have the items, i can do the wisdom or strength quest in about 35-40 minutes. if i don't it'll take about 1½-2 hours, i still think it's much easier than getting ns rings, since you only need to run around the mod turning in items, i find that easier than fighting in a epic area
wen al great heros are sleeping invisibel creatures wil kill them , and so it will be =)

I will say this: i just completed the quest, and the ring is very much worthwhile, and on this build I will not be going for NS rings.
OK, I've finally gotten around to having a decent crack at this quest. I've got to the 6th hermit in the wisdom ring quest, and he's asking for an item that can kill him. Now I assume this is a weapon that one of the undead "mini-bosses" drops, but personally I found his hint just a little too subtle. But then it is a wisdom quest, and maybe I'm not wise enough for this one...
I'm taking my GoTD toon through this quest, mainly coz he's a monk, and I figured with all the running around I'd have to do the monk speed would really help. It has been extremely useful, and I've burnt up a lot of cash teleporting all over the place too (handy place, Garagoth) but I am now stuck. So if anyone has any helpful ideas to get me back on track please send me a PM (or reply if you don't mind dropping a spoiler for everyone else) and help out a fellow player.
Thanks all.
Cheers,
Nanuk.

I think the quests are mandatory for any of my toons. With Sylphe and all the gear in hand, I can do this quest in 30 minutes.
I love Sylphe. I love the Str and Wis rings. I was given the Wis quest from a respected player and figured out the Str quest on my own. So, it's not hard, it's just time consuming.
