New to 3.5

Post by diddy33 »

Hello all,
I started out on NS 4 and have never really played on 3.5 before. Due to the NS 4 outage last night i thought i'd hop on a 3.5 server. I like what i saw, and have a few questions for you out there. Is there a Wiki or a list of items/gear and thier properties posted anywhere? I'm thinking of sticking around 3.5 just so i can try some of the builds that NS 4 never let me.

Also, are alot of the mobs immune to things like knockdown, disarm, fear? From what i've read on these forums summons are pretty much useless right? Are there any "nerf" to builds, or is the neverwinter wiki going to be a good area to go off of for shifting and stuff like that?

I have lots of questions about the server but lets start off with those haha. Also a thanks to Shylow of PD (sp?) i think his name is. he helped me out quite a bit last night with my questions, and apparently helped out a friend of mine that was also from NS4 and was trying out the server. We will both be comiing over to 3.5 (east i think) to spend some time.

Any info is much apprecaited.
Thanks

The 3.5 forum is a better source of info than the Wiki, since the Wiki is for 4.0. There is, or at least was a fairly complete list of equi[ment somewhere on the forums. The players in game are one of the best sources - they are almost always willing to help ( when they aren't fighting for their lives (   )

Welcome, and I hope to see you in game!!!

I did find this, but it doesn't really tell me anything about the gear. I was also referring to the NeverWinter Nights Wiki, not the NS 4 wiki. I know that ALOT is different between the 2, it's just going to be difficult for me to go from a that server to a regular server when that is all i've ever known lol.

Edit: also it seems that alot of the links on these forums are bad now probably because of the forum move or being deleted post. i work during the day so that's the time i use to troll forums and read up on builds and changes so i can make my toons better.

What 3.5 server did you jump on? I think I still have some toons on east :)

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

Been playing more of 3.5 lately, again. . and even though my highest level toon is level 20, i haven't played alot lol, i have questions about building.

when making toons, do you worry about saves at all? i see most of the gear has death immune, and knockdown immune and this and that. so when you create your new toons do you even worry about saves?

3.5 is high magic, high dmg, high ac, high everything. The best way to learn the server it is make a 40 (as cheezy as possible) and run around. You will come across a player with some uber toy and ask where to get one, most easties will be willing to take you to get your own shiny toy.

Saves are a non issue for the most part, hips/disarm/kd are out for most any high lvl mob. If you want a summon, go to starfall and get a starfall protector. After about a year you will be able to solo everything and will join us back on 4.

Its a great server to learn the game. It was my first experience with online games and with NWN for that matter. I enjoyed my time on east, once I could solo xifu and DWP it lost its charm however.

good stuff to know, since i'm used to ns4, when i build i usually build around saves as well. . and one of my builds i was looking at doing was a bard/wm/rdd. except the fort save was only a 20 without equipment (don't know with equipment since i don't know the equipment lol). and i know that kind of fort would not fly very high in ns4 haha.

saves don't matter, weapon choice doesn't matter, DR doesn't really matter.

at the high end of the game all the gear is basically the same. save a few things here and there. Triton weapons are identical to each other. everyone runs around in G1 or NS gear as they get it.\\

you can cover almost any immunity you can think of with atleast 1 piece of gear somewhere. i personally make a dragon build to start so i can solo most anything in the game easily/long term fight..then worry about make a fun build later on.

dragon shape with 120+ac can solo anything....it may take a while based on your ab...but they won't kill you first.
