Soak/Immune Questing...

Post by Gruesome Wolf_ns3 »

Server: East

I am wondering if I have reached the pinnacle of immunity/soakdom...

Sherman Abram, my tank, is a 26th level DD. (7 Fighter / 7 WM too)

He has all the damage reduction feats.

He has: NS Gloves, rings, cloak, boots, belt, amulet of dimensions, G1 Helm, ice shield and robes of the divine...

What I am wondering is, have I maxed my soak and immunities?

Someone was nice enough to let me look at their NS Warriors armor yesterday and its immunities seemed actually a bit smaller than the robes.(Thats silly, IMO)

Is there anything I should get with better immunes? Is there an NS helm that would have higher immunes than G1?

I gave up on his AC long ago since he is not a dex build and its only about a 63 or so currently.(No str vs. dex debate please)

But, I have been finding that I do not care about AC for the most part, because MOST places I have been, my regen keeps up with the tiny bits of damage anything can do to me.

However, twilight, DWP and even the phoenix exceed my immune/soak abilitities, so I am trying to get a bit more.

So, is there armor with better immunities than Divine Robes? What does an NS helm look like? I have a hyborean shield that grants 50% bludgeon immune that I suspect might be an occasional swap with ice shield. (phoenix do bludgeon damage?)

Yup... you've pretty much maxed out, gear wise. The places you mention like DWP, Twilight, Phoenix, etc aren't intended to be solo'd. As such, you are gonna take some damage there and have to use some heals.

thanks... I figured if I wasn't done, I at least had to be close. I tanked for an EC run for the first time last night and was shocked to find that I could stand next to glory and hardly take any damage at all... It had been about 5 levels and 5 pieces of NS gear dince I last tried... What a difference. :)

twilight robes are 0 +10ac and have 10% immunities to bludg, slash, and piercing. it also has 6 +40 soak/dmd red. and g1 shield has 25% immune to bludg as well as the silver mithril shield and the hyborean or however you spell it has 50% immunity to bludg. other than that i would look into the upgraded str and wis quest rings.

Twilight robes, eh? they sound nice... But are they monk only like half the twilight stuff seems to be?

The quests never occured to me either, thanks. But, are those rings upgrades on current rings, so I keep the immunities? or do they replace them? More STR would be great, but not at the cost of any immunity...

This has been addressed on my other thread here:

http://www.nsrealm.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8960

Many people have asked me the same thing in game and now I refer them to this thread. Of course my chart suffers from code errors, so it can be hard to read. I'll have to fix that someday, but it will not be this day :P

The link is wrong. The NS3 subfolder is missing. The correct link is below.

You can actually gain an additional point of DR by going Barbarian for 11 levels instead of WM. While you do give up some AB, you'll add more HPs to your total and you'll tank to the max.

This would also require an alignment change, but he's a fun little dorf.
