Tweaks and updates

Post by Pros_ns3 »

East server gets the new tweaks and updates first for testing reasons prior to the other servers getting the update.

(Sept 2005)
1. New druid/ranger area found in North Barrier. A type of quest or more of a 'Do I feel lucky' type challenge.
2. See the sage in EC for an additional item(quest) added to the palette. This one is a bit more time consuming to complete. This one is still being worked on to tweak the bugs out but its active.
3. Aegis Arcanum guild added.
4. New Mage outfit found in midnight area, not a 100% drop but does alternate with another item. The drop rate for the mage outfit is a lesser chance than the other item.
5. New Druid/Ranger outfit(see #1 above)
6. Some new items/spell tweaks being requested for druids. Will work on that as time permits. Also awaiting feedback on this.

(Oct 2005)
1. Remodeled the Crest area slightly. New drop added up there. Nothing crazy and maybe even useful.
2. Added a sign next to wiz tower entrance in Neversummer for some info. This sign has some information updates still to come.
3. Mages upon entering mod will now have spells discharged for those who like to log out to regain spells. So rest before charging into battle.
4. Fixed the Leader Stick to not allow certain areas to be accessible.(I think) Also cost to use is up to a more reasonable price for travel.
5. Call lightning tweaked a tad.
6. Challenge area a bit tougher now thanks to some much needed testing feedback.
7. A druid weapon now drops in Sunken as a random item on death from a particular critter.

(Nov 2005) (Fang's vision and work)
1. Lich King decided to remodel his area.
2. Elemental Planes expanded and is under new management. Original employees still hold their positions, new upper planes areas.
3. A horde of small persons moved into the Black Hills and renamed the area. Mysterious cave still accessible from this area.
4. Implosion spell fixed...or seems to be.
5. New low to mid level items.
6. Some new elemental items.
7. Some enhancements to the mithril gear.
8. Beware of putting magic bags into chests. They are distant cousins that dislike each other.
9. Dropping items on ground may result in it fading away(all maps).

(Mid Nov 2005) (Fang at it again)
1. Twilight - a new epic adventure area for all those bored level 40s looking for a challenge. Look for it up off of one of the outskirts maps in the Enchanted City. Theres a definite Oriental flair...just pretend you're in a kung fu movie. Bring lots of heals and rez scrolls. Some new interesting drops too.
2. A few tweaks to the new areas introduced earlier in the month. Nothing big.

(Dec 2005)
1. Sewers have a little more flavor to them now with a quest to help get the level 1's going.
2. Melencia and Tul'Gik have been revised. Melencia may be a place to go if you are a mage looking for some gear.
3. The forested area to the northeast of Neversummer is getting a facelift. Things are not as they were in the forest! Check out the east side of the Overgrown Forest for a new (old) area...new monsters, new drops. Included are the woodland gloves, a drop for ranger or druid, and has a useable function on it.
4. Darken Rahl's area has expanded a little and he hired a new interior decorator. His minions are also sporting new looks and weapons.
5. Falme has a little mystery going on with more growth plans in the works.
6. Giant mountain completely overhauled. Two new areas associated with it, one underneath it and another to the west. The Nexus has expanded to take you to these new areas. A new unique item or two drop here among other items.
Regarding one of these new items called the 'Alien Energizer', be careful as this item can make you cry or whine.

(Feb 2006)
1. Some minor work on some shifters. Initial tweaking may be causing some server crashes so old file restored until further testing.
2. Undermountain has expanded a bit deeper into the earth. Now you get to see what the dwarves unleashed on themselves, which ultimately led to their doom. The Giant Mountain Hermit now has something to say, I think he mentioned something about a dragon off to the East.
3. Various little fixes here and there. Numerous NPCs tweaked along with their equipment for a smoother levelling experience, especially preepically.
4. Slight changes to the Enchanted Forest. Make sure you talk to the Neversummer Ranger Leader now before embarking on the quest. The Spectre of the Forest now drops a new unique item.

(Late Mar 2006)
1. New area added in Falme, Buccaneer's Den. Recently tweaked to fix doors, drops, etc.
2. Some minor tweaks to some items for balancing issues.
3. A few adjustments to some of the more recent areas from previous additions - Twilight, Starfall.
4. Goop should drop now as 2 or 3 at a time. Makes sense right?
5. The Dragonstone - a brand new quest for players to do. Do you want the best weapon for slaying the Dragon hordes all over Neversummer (better than a Triton)? Then look for Naugrim in Buccaneer's Den, he will get you started on the right track.
6. Beware of dropping bags! In addition to chests not liking their floppy cousins, when you buy one, its stuck to that particular toon now, and no other. This change is due to players using bags in exploitative ways.

(April 2006)
1. 1.67 patch getting installed on all the servers.
2. Vita Ex Nex now has 3 charges on it and is reuseable. There is an NPC in a few prime locations that will recharge your Vita for a fee. Look for them in high traffic areas, but just off the beaten path. WARNING: The vitas you have collected before todays update are now inoperative...you will need a new Vita, but you will now only need to do this once.
3. A few tweaks to a few areas to improve game flow such as Starfall and Undermountain.

(July 2006)
1. The Keeper of the Dead spent some remedial time in the underworld and has come back stronger than ever. Might drop something old (but new).
2. The Elemental Planes have been touched up a bit. The Plane of Water looks more like water, and the Lords of each plane have been working out. Check their drops out closely for changes.
3. The Path to Paradise has been renovated. You might find it a bit different on your next run, and will also find that it is a better place to level now.
4. Garagoth and the City in the Clouds cosmetically updated. Potential for future quests to be inserted at a later date.
5. Changes to the Leader Stick function have been made, and will make it easier to use.
6. The Ranged Training Focus and Divine Symbol (formally known as the Paladin Holy Symbol) have been updated.
7. The New Player Helper has decided to go WalMart and has rolled back her prices for identifying items for new players.
8. Balancing and other gameplay issues taken care of as well. Of note is the Sensei Philter...this should be dropping now, let us know if it is not.

(Aug 2006)
1. Garagoth has some new content for those mage types, seek out the Wizard's Challenge!
2. Magic bag loses its magic if its picked up by the wrong person.
3. Undermountain CR's fixed.

(Aug 2006, part 2)
1. Two new underwater maps added in next update. Strolling around on the bottom of the sea is a little different than being on land.
2. Undersea City has a new quest, and a new unique prize at the end.
3. Merfolk have been anticipating an influx of venturers and are eating more ocean spinach. They have a few new items and revised drops.
4. Sensei Philter drop fix.
5. Tweaks to the Starfall area. Some bad folks trying to get away with getting Crystal Shards the easy way are responsible for this one.

(Aug 2006, part 3)
1. 1.68 patch installed
2. Underdark renovation underway, some of the surrounding areas have been redone.
3. Marie the seamstress sells a dice bag..cheap.
4. NS redesigned slightly.

(Sept 2006)
1. Level restrictions set to 18, 28, and 38.
2. Demonweb pits now open to level 38's and higher.
3. New Mage shield found in mage area in demonweb pits.
4. Some gear has been tweaked to accommodate note 1 above. NS grade weapons adjusted slightly to reflect more appropriate damage distribution. An example, a two handed sword should do more damage than a tiny dagger.
5. Upper level heavy armors tweaked up a bit to give str builders something more to entice them.
6. Avendell run has some new landscape designs.
7. If you are levels 25 - 27, don't drop that triton..see note 1 above.
8. Goingar now deals with level 28's and above(not 25s anymore).

(Oct 2006)
1. Harmony armor dex adjusted.

(Dec 2006)
1. Changed the Str and Wis bullets to items so you can't wing it away.
2. Spook Veil should drop now in next release(mid December). There was a script oversight.
3. X-mas theme added with a DM only activated portal. Somewhat tough areas(28+). Portal will only allow 28 or higher. Portal is only available for the x-mas weekend.

(Jan 2007)
1. Wisdom quest finally fixed? Should be now.
2. The Underdark has expanded deeper into the earth. Watch out for the Gnomes, Beholders, and Illithids that lurk below.
3. There's more to see in the Dwarven Stronghold. Access has opened up to the Citadel above the Stronghold, and boy, is Tagnar's Wife mad that you've killed her husband. Epic level characters only.
4. The Elemental Lord drops have been changed. Take the Elemental Fire to the Elemental Planes Guardian and see what you get.
5. Changes also made to the Twilight rewards. Some of Xi Fu's drops have been buffed up and changed, and Xi Fu now drops a new unique item that the Twilight Wise One can use to buff up your NS Armor with.

(July 2008) - Both North and East have this update.
1. 1.69 update applied.
2. Tileset and gameflow updates to the following maps: Coastal Road, Rock Peak, Old Town North, Old Town North: Crypt, The Marsh.
3. Isle of Dreams completely renovated. The Isle of Dreams is now the central island in a chain of islands where a number of gnomish clans now inhabit. Grombole is still the big bad, and he HATES visitors. Visit at your own risk.
4. Expansion of the Arronax underwater areas. It will be possible to wade offshore from the Isle of Dreams and travel underwater to the Undersea City - IF you can find a Rebreather Helm first, or take a lot of heals to avoid drowning.

(August 2008)
1. Balancing issues with gear.
2. Halls of the Dead renovated for a smoother levelling experience. Draco has been on the loose, and has added loot to his treasure hoard.

(January 2010)
1. A number of maps have been shredded - Ogre Pass is gone, as well as a few maps between Neversummer and Quith'yot.
2. The Gnolls have moved on, wandering nomads that they are, and have taken up residence off of a Trade Route that has been unused up until now. Venture into their canyon and tunnels at your own peril. 18+ level requirements for the drops.
3. The original Dwarven Stronghold and its surrounding mine system has received a huge makeover. Tagnus, Lagnar, and Tagnar would like to invite you by...that is, if they weren't the violent, xenophobic dwarves that they are. New and revised NPC's and a completely new set of drops appropriate for level 18+ and 28+ toons are now available, including new complete sets of equipment off of each of the minibosses. Boss gear is for level 28+ toons, miniboss and other Dwarven NPC gear is level 18+.
4. Remember the Secret Store? A few changes have been made, and more are to come!
5. Balancing issues with gear.

(Late January 2010)
1. The Dragon Realm arises anew! Each family of dragon has carved out its own little niche, and the dragons have all be rebalanced for a decent levelling experience. Watch out for some interesting drops.
2. There is a new Dragon NPC in the City in the Clouds. Introduce yourself to Falkyr sometime when you're running through there.
3. The Great Wandering One now will randomly drop one of her Scales (NOT the shield) when she is vanquished. I wonder if Falkyr could do something with it?
4. There's a Drow Refugee hiding out somewhere in one of the caves in the Neversummer city vicinity. He has a bone to pick with the Drow High Priestess, and he may be able to transport you into the underdark...for a price.

(February 2010)
1. The Dragon Caverns have been revised. Sabar has a lot of new loot in his treasure hoard, be sure to check it out. There are a few new types of Dragon to be found deep within the Cavern system.
2. The EC run has been sorted into two map clusters - Unstable Magic, and the Path to Enchantment. Quite a few superficial changes have been made to the Unstable Magic maps, and there are two new maps along the Unstable Magic portion of the EC run. The Eternal Guardian drops a new item that you will find quite interesting, very similar to the Majestic Maliorate Goop. See #3 below...
3. Falkyr the Silver has opened up a Dragonforge up in the Enchanted City. Seek him out if you have some Sabar gear that needs upgrading to a Triton or NS Armor level of uberness. You may need that item from the Eternal Guardian.

(November 2010 - East Reboot)
1. Numerous tweaks and balance changes to the Sewers, Tul'Gik's caves, Rock Peak's Mausoleum, and the Bandit Camp, among other changes.
2. Quest tweaks in Neversummer and Avendell for lower level toons.
3. Changes made to the NS gear rewarding system. Seek out Falkyr the Silver at the Dragonforge somewhere in the Enchanted City, he will help you out.

(December 2010)
1. Have you wondered what's up with that Porcelain Bowl that you might find somewhere near Avendell? That locked off building at the Perian Hills West is finally open for business, you could probably find a use for that Bowl there...

(January 2011)
1. Enchanted Forest Dark Heart map has been shuffled around a bit, and the Neversummer Ranger Leader may have some gear for you as a reward for killing the Spectre of the Forest now...

Let us know if any new stuff is bugged.

Re: Tweaks and updates

Post by Dr_Fangorn »

The new areas have been road tested on North over the past week, and it is my goal to get a copy of the most up to date module over to East in the next day or two. I am away for the following ten days, so please leave any concerns, glitch reports, or bugs on the forums (or talk to DM Sun Tzu or another DM) and I will repair things when I get back.
