I may have missunderstood the general idea, that being to make Death something to fear, but why should Death be fun?
Twig (TSS) - Twig [CLAD] - Twigs -Fury- - SyNfully Rotted Twig - Twig'lee -Down Under- - Twig'zilla

Fergus Glonshire [FoN] - Sakij Lovac [FoN] - Zatharus Rivermoon (TSS) - Bumble (TSS) - Body built for SyN

Death must have consequences, in order for players to have a desire to avoid it. Those consequences, however, do not need to be (and should not be!) something which is so inherently frustrating as to make a player opt to stop "playing" for a period of time. This does that not by being frustrating, but by outright requiring the player to stare at a blank screen for a period of time. More realistically, the player will simply walk away from the computer. This should not be the player response to an intended game feature.

Gold loss? Sure, player has to farm more -- may be slightly frustrating, but doesnt cause (or require) the player to stop playing. Same with XP loss, xp debt, a "ghost" system, etc. It's insidious because if anything it makes you play MORE, not less.

A game (or module) which actively encourages the player to walk away from the computer will lose players. Simple as that.

If it isn't NS5, why bother playing it? :)

Could it be expanded to lvl 40 with the possible third game expansion?

Most likely will stay as it is.
There's a looooooong topic somewhere on the NWN2 Bioware forums where some OEI guy explains why.
Tl;dr: anything after level 30 is too broken to be worth implementing. This is actually very, very true.

What's wrong with the system we have on NS4?

Btw I don't think pvp deaths should have anything more nasty then the loss of some gold. If you make it too high a prise for pvp death PvP could suffer as a result,

There's nothing wrong with it - that's why it was one of the options. :)

But, since we're having a new start, it's a good time to rethink the status quo and see if there's something better. Which, is evidenced by more votes being cast for something different...

And yeah, PvP penalties should be low or non-existent - especially for wide character level differences.

While we're playing the "majority of people voted for something different" game, lets also point out that 64% of people voted for no item loss -- just gold/xp loss with or without an underworld/ghost system. So the large majority of the players don't want to lose their items.

I think the death penalties need to reflect on the direction you want the server to go. I would like to see it promote high lvl pvp. Like maybe after lvl 15 or so if you die during pvp everything in your inventory drops including gold(of course you would need a banking system)

Wouldnt that discourage pvp and not encourage it?
