ok so a non magic staff, are there any 1 handed wizard staves that have no bonus damage on them at all ? so i can get full effect from black staff and still use my tower shield - or i have to go a basic q staff to get the most out of it ? i seem to remember a while a go a dm telling me he built one ...

This issue is a real tough one at times because as others have noted we the players generally cannot tell (100%) if its jimbo and his housemate playing THIS time or jimbo and jimbo playing.
