What is the level difference before the XP penalties apply?

I think it is 3 levels difference before the lower level character starts to lose most of their xp from combat.

Does this apply to epic levels also?

If the original poster is still looking for suggestions: I would stay away from the sorcerer class. I have a 32nd lvl sorcerer, and while my DC for most spells is reasonable, the lack of known spells is a nightmare. The sorcerer class gets a whopping 3 (three) known spells for lvls 6th - 9th. I have mapped a mod with over 100 areas using visio. You just have to break it down into regions. It can be quite an undertaking <I ended up editing/adding more than I played>. Just don't expect the map to look like a drawing... That isn't going to happen without going for a mapping software. m DD

Items you craft any time count towards the xp requirement. As a tip, levels 9, 13 and 16 are good levels to burn xp, because the new gear means it's easier to get. I can see the server in the gamespy listing. That is how I got the IP. Unless it was cached somewhere and the server is actually down. But I saw the number of players changing so that doesn't seem right.
