DV, I believe you misunderstood my question. I do understand that fighters have low will saves. I confused the issue by asking about will saves. What I meant was the "inability of certain mind spells just not working on [the Earth Genasi]." This was what made me go, "huh?" As far as I can tell, ther...

As far as the other ECL races... I've primarily played one other, which is Earth Genasi. The barkskin did help in the lower levels. But, most useful to me has been the inability of certain mind spells just not working on him as well as the acid resist. As a fighter with miserable will saves, the ab...

Sunburst
Sunburst does not seem to be working as advertised against vampires. I have not seen any vampires destroyed when failing their reflex save against sunburst. I have not tried this against non-vampires, so I don't know if those are still being blinded, but I know that vampires aren't. I also haven't t...

Obviously, having a more complete and detailed map would be useful. On the other hand, exploring and finding new things is great. For example, yesterday I found a ferry from point A to point B on server 1. Won't say where it is, because some people may be in the position I was--I was excited to see ...

Just somethin' funny...
So a little while ago in my rogue thread I was kvetching (a Yiddish word for those who don't know, means complaining, but with more finesse  ) about not having doors and such be set to lockable. Yesterday I was running around with my Mystral mage and was entering Melencia to blow up some tree-h...

This actually happened to me last night! I gained a level in the middle of a fairly tough fight, when I was trying to use somewhat guerilla tactics (at the gnoll fort, you know, walk in invis, finger of death tickles a mystic, run out and shut the gate which the gnolls are too dumb to open, horrid w...

I think that what was meant was that when you gain the xp for a lvl, but have not yet taken that level, your character portrait changes to the levelup icon. You can't click on it to get your char sheet, or more importantly, to target yourself. I think having the levelup right at your fingertips does...

There are only a few classes that can afford to single-class so much. Yes, it is technically possible to take 19 straight rogue levels for crafting, but there are a bunch of reasons not to. Mages can and do reguarly take a bunch of levels up front. Rangers and fighters might. The fact that nearly al...

So my planned rogue 30/fighter 5/SD 5 won't be able to tailor higher than 3rd lvl? (I took ftr on lvl 2). It is better to be able craft at the highest lvl you've reached and not advance rather than losing lvls, but I think that's still kind of rough. As an alternative, how about subtracting your non...

OK, so if you REALLY tried hard with just the right setup, you could have 35 AC at level 40. But, to bring this back to where it started, how the heck do casters get that high, and how would heavy-armor wearers get there? It seems like the only major (non-item) AC boost that casters are going to get...

Yeah, I did forget about tumble. Still, let's just figure a rogue at level 25. Has 28 tumble for +5 AC. Starting dex is 20, and if we take it at every opportunity (leaving aside Great Dex for now) that's 26, with a modifier of +8. Since they have uncanny dodge, they'll keep that +8 even when flatfoo...

Thanks for the explanation, JesterOI. Still, some people say stuff like, this build will have a bajillion AC naked . I know that frequently the highest AC build would be a monk in dragon shape, but how would a caster not using this get remotely that high? Especially if there's no Armor AC from robes...
