They save as i'm playing the game, but when I log back in the next day, they're gone. Is this by design?

Similar with the maps. Shouldn't it remember which areas I have already explored and put pins on? It's frustrating to loose those details.

Does the night/day affect the type/strength of the ai creatures?
I was thinking of socializing in the day and leveling up at night if the creatures are harder at night.

I'm a lvl4 Paladin looking to travel far away from my NC home with a party. I'd like to find a city with quests and some allies. Is Avendell a safe city for my kind?

I totally agree! Any quest would really help me out. I can't find a single job or quest in the Northern Coalition.
