Hi,

I'm new. I was not planning on taking martial proficiency. Am I locked out of weapon crafting (simple) due to this choice?

While I am here, are there any chests for sharing items between characters? The wiki mentions one but I can't find it.

yes, you have to have the proficiency to use the items you are crafting

For armour and weapon crafting, you are going to want to make a dedicated (pure) fighter for best results, and transfer the items once made/upgraded.

This is a world of making multiple characters for the most part. Grouping up, power-gaming and meta-gaming is rather necessary for 'end game', the upper/lower planes are tuned for maximum brutality.

You can transfer items in Avendell, there are a few ways to go about it there.
