Can you reboot, change the movie setting (without starting the game) then try to start from main menu?

Honestly at this point we are going around in circles retrying things.

I (we?) want you be be up and running and if I (we?) had the easy answer we would tell it to you.

Other players had some problems and the things we did here fixed them. These things are not working for you, and I (we?) didn't make the sept. 15th upgrade for the game so I (we?) don't have much more info on how to fix it.

At this point, I (I!) would suggest contacting steam/gog/beamdog support because they have more information, tools, knowledge, and experience fixing this stuff.

I wish I had an easy answer/fix, but I'm out of ideas. Good luck!

Did you say you have a version on your PC that isn't updated? I don't know if this works with EE, but you could try deleting the updated version from papa's comp, and copying the folder with the unupdated version onto his PC. I made a duplicate of installed folder on a stick when I installed, and it seems to run fine.
